Although the Intel Raptor Lake processors use the same LGA 1700 socket as their 12th generation counterparts, these new processors will not work with existing motherboards that use 600-series chipsets. However, Asus recently confirmed that it plans to release a bone in the form of a BIOS for those hoping to upgrade their Alder Lake chips.

The company has confirmed that it plans to support Intel Raptor Lake processors on its best gaming motherboards, namely those that use the Z690 chipset. You can check out the full list here, which includes devices from ROG, ROG Strix, ProArt, Prime, and TUF Gaming brands.

Naturally, users will need to perform a BIOS update before putting what should be the best Team Blue gaming processor in their gaming PC. Fortunately, features like BIOS Flashback and EZ Flash should make this task easier because you won’t need to go into the system BIOS or Windows operating system.

We expect other manufacturers to follow Asus’ lead before the Raptor Lake launches later this year. However, you should probably wait to see how they compare to AMD’s Zen 4 processors before rushing out to buy them.
