AMD Claims Nvidia’s ‘Great Leadership’ With Radeon GPU Chips

AMD and Nvida are set to launch new graphics card contenders later this year, but Team Red says its new approach to GPU design gives the company a big edge over the competition. These are chiplets, which could replace the monolithic crystals we are used to.

Samuel Naffziger, senior vice president, general manager and product architect at AMD, says that Nvidia will soon be “forced” to join the competition in chip-enabled graphics cards (via VentureBeat). “We have a huge advantage here and we see a huge opportunity here,” Naffziger continues, and we could see the fruits of that in some future RDNA 3 GPUs.

Considering the chips have been in AMD’s processors since 2019 and will no doubt play a big role in the success of its Ryzen 7000 processors, it’s no surprise that the company is considering bringing these advancements to its Radeon 7000 GPUs.

We’ll have to wait a bit before we can definitively say what advantage AMD’s new graphics chips give over the Nvidia RTX 4000. However, there are already rumors that RDNA 3 could double the performance of the 6900 XT, so that we could be on the eve of a true generational leap. .
