There are a lot of great mods out there for Quake, but there has never been a decent hub for the FPS modding community to easily come together, share mods, discuss them, and help creators. That’s exactly what Quake’s new community site, Slipgate Sightseer, is all about.
Slipgate Sightseer, or Slipseer to use its catchy URL name, is now officially in beta testing and should become the new home for the Quake modding community. From the main page, you can easily check out new maps and mods, as well as reviews, discussions, and help for those trying to create mods for themselves.
PCGamesN reached out to development team member Michael Markey, who is also a composer, sound and level designer for 3D Realms and Slipgate Ironworks. Michael describes Slipseer as “a community hub, primarily for single-player Quake content creators and players, where creators can upload, manage, and discuss their content on one modern site.”
The site is currently only in beta, with Michael confirming that “there is more to come in the future.” Plans include “modding and mapping tutorials, editorials, big site premieres” and accessible content that Quake recently started receiving.
“One of the issues we want to address is the ease of playing Quake content,” adds Michael Markey. “Maybe an app like Nexus Mods, but for Quake!”

Mods available on Slipseer include Copper’s “vanilla plus” upgrade mod and the fantastic Block Quake which turns the game into the ultimate Lego FPS. Expect big events.
Elsewhere in the world of Quake, developer id Software’s next game after Doom Eternal is set to be “a long-running cult first-person shooter.” Could it finally be Quake 5?
