Hoyoverse has released a new teaser for Sumeru in which various anime game developers explain the Dendro Geshin Impact 3.0 item. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Dendro, there have been several notable leaks in recent weeks, but this more official look breaks some of the design process that went into introducing him to the open world game. . This item is described as “the final puzzle piece in Genshin Impact’s seven-item system” and the Hoyoverse team says it was created with synergy in mind.
Genshin Impact combat designer Aquaria points out three key terms that define the design of the Dendro element: “catalysis, wisdom, and life.” The Greek term “dendro” means “tree”, which helps convey that sense of growth and nature that Hoyoverse seems to aspire to. Dendro is already present in Genshin Impact and is used for things like grass, bushes, and wooden barrels, which unsurprisingly react to Pyro’s elemental attacks by burning. This also applies to various enemies with burnable wooden shields, as well as timid and oversized Dendro slimes.
The arrival of the Sumeru region in Update 3.0 will bring new Dendro playable characters who can use the item themselves. For Hoyoverse, this involved developing new reactions to entice players to utilize item synergy in Genshin Impact. Aquaria explains how previous synergies like Electro Charge (which combines Hydro and Electro to continuously charge and hit wet enemies) are often based on daily events, but also combine some aspects of them, in this case Hydro recovery and Electro energy. .
Similarly, Hoyoverse introduces two new reactions for Genshin Impact 3.0: Bloom and Catalyze. Flower it combines Hydro with the catalysis aspect of Dendro and, unsurprisingly, is designed around the concept of blooming flowers. catalyze described as a “completely original effect” that combines Electro’s energy with Dendro’s wisdom aspect. The team has remained silent on the exact details of the reaction at this time, although there are teasing images of the two in action in the video.
Additionally, according to combat designer Yangshen, the Sumeru region is introducing a new concept called “Polymorphic Transformation,” which will allow players to interact differently with Dendro-related objects in the environment by applying Hydro, Pyro, or Electro to them. . Also, some Dendro enemies will enter different states when affected by other elements. This changes their possible attack patterns and can alter the materials they drop when hit, meaning you’ll need to use certain items if you want to get some of the rarer special materials.
The Hoyoverse team says that players will have to wait for more information when the Genshin Impact 3.0 release date arrives.
