Intel Arc Alchemist technically arrived in March, but we haven’t yet seen any GPU-powered desktop or gaming laptops launch outside of China. Although it may seem that the blue team has forgotten the rest of the world, a member of the company’s marketing team created an unboxing video after receiving the sale card.
On Twitter Community Engagement Director Ryan Schrute boasts of two Intel Arc GPUs, both custom Gunnir A380 Photon models. Equipped with 8 Xe-Cores processors, Shrout reminds that the cards in question are suitable for gaming at 1080p with medium settings. Of course, if he’s followed the early Arc Alchemist benchmarks, he already knows that the A380 has a hard time keeping up with the Nvidia GTX 1650.
The Intel Arc A380 is undoubtedly a budget graphics card priced at around $140. Despite its cheap status, Shrout says the GPU has “exceptional build quality”, but we’ll have to get our hands on it before we know if that’s true.
I have in my hands a commercial version of the Gunnir Intel Arc A380 Photon 6G OC board. It’s only available in China at the moment, so WW buyers may not see it locally, but the build quality is outstanding. Intel’s Arc Alchemist graphics cards were meant to rival current generation rivals. However, the arrival of the staggered lineup means it’s catching up with AMD and Nvidia. Next-gen RTX 4000 and Radeon RDNA 3 GPUs are expected to arrive in a few months, and if the A380 sticks around, Intel will have a hard time trading blows.
