Final Fantasy XIV’s up-and-coming RPG team decided that the best way to attract newcomers to the MMO’s upcoming summer bash was through advertising, but the usual methods just didn’t work. Instead of screaming through the streets of Lims Lomins or courting passers-by on the stairs of Ulda, the Rain nightclub bought several billboards in Texas and California, directing the party-inspired Warriors of Light where to go after 9 of July.
A Twitter user associated with the group posted the bulletin boards on Twitter (courtesy of News.com.au) and mentioned that the rental actually costs very little, although the posts have since been removed. It’s unclear if this is due to copyright infringement issues or community backlash on the Rain Discord server, though it could be the latter.
Square Enix tends to be quite lenient with how it enforces its Terms of Service in Final Fantasy XIV. Even most Photomode mods can technically be construed as violating the Terms of Service, though as long as your actions don’t harm other users or make real money from Square Enix IP, there’s often little risk of getting into trouble. in Eorzea for a minor. rules. .
What apparently got Rain in trouble with fans was the rather selective advertising on billboards. The Rain Club offers erotic role-playing services, which is not uncommon in Final Fantasy XIV, especially on Rain’s local server in Balmung, which is informally known as the game’s role-playing server. This is clearly visible on the Rain website, offline at the time of publication until the advertising fades and the full list of services offered.
Those who joined the Discord club without checking their website were apparently shocked to find NSFW channels on the server before they were removed by Rain’s modders, angering newcomers and existing members alike and leading to several hours of unleashed messages about your club modifications.
The show will apparently go on, though, with DJ performances and games, and an extensive menu of Final Fantasy drinks and food, and admittedly pricey, so bring plenty of Gil.
This should give you a nice break from patch 6.18 and your island paradise, but if you need more than a little booze to change your worldview. this new mod that improves the texture of each monster should help.
