Red Dead Redemption 2 now unofficially supports AMD FSR 2.0 thanks to the same mod that added the ladder to Cyberpunk 2077. The Red Team. using a third party solution.
The Red Dead Redemption mod, available for download via Nexusmods, replaces the Nvidia DLSS game library with AMD FSR 2.0 files (via Wccftech). As with Cyberpunk 2077, the graphics card tech isn’t optimized for Rockstar’s sandbox quest, and it’ll cost a few frames compared to an officially supported competitor. However, the open source nature of FidelityFX Super Resolution 2.0 means that you can potentially increase frame rates and get sharper images on a variety of older GPUs.
Using AMD FSR 2.0 with Red Dead Redemption may dampen the spaghetti western experience on your gaming PC, but online gamers should beware. The creator of the mod warns that modifying files may result in a server ban, as is often the case with Rockstar games.

YouTube benchmarking channel MxbenchmarkPC has already tested the Red Dead Redemption AMD FSR 2.0 mod and the results look promising. The DIY solution seems to drop some frames compared to DLSS 2.4, and both solutions support over 100fps at 1440p on an Nvidia RTX 3080.
Again, Nvidia DLSS 2.4 requires a newer RTX graphics card, but AMD FSR 2.0 should work with older graphics cards, including older GeForce GTX models. As long as you’re willing to put up with unoptimized shenanigans, a mod can save you from having to get a better graphics card to get the most out of games like Red Dead Redemption 2.
If you like to mod sandbox adventures in general, there’s a Red Dead Redemption 2 weather mod that unofficially updates Rockstar’s old western adventure.
