Return to Monkey Island creator fed up with toxic fans after latest criticism: “I won’t talk about the game anymore”
The release of the gameplay trailer for Guybrush Threepwood’s adventure has left mixed feelings.
Last Tuesday, Nintendo Direct mini gave us its first gameplay look at Return to Monkey Island, the return of one of the most beloved epics of the ’90s, by none other than original author Ron Gilbert. But time is ticking, the industry is advancing, and new decisions need to be made that don’t seem to have convinced the entire public. artistic divisionprovokes all kinds of reactions in networks.
Unfortunately, this also includes a section of users who were unable to show their displeasure with the team led by Ron Gilbert without being attacked, causing the legendary developer to decide to shelve the issue altogether.

You left me unwilling to talk about the gameRon Gilbert“I will turn off comments. People are just being rude and I have to delete personal attacks. It’s a great game and everyone on the team is proud of it. Play or don’t play but don’t ruin it for others. I will not post more about the game. For this you left me without illusion”, Ron Gilbert commented via his official blog, that it was, in fact, inferior.
It’s unclear whether the LucasArts veteran will simply turn off the tap, which is in direct contact with fans of his work, or simply refuse to reveal more about the video game in interviews with the private press. What is clear is once again networks showed their worst faces.
The game that Ron Gilbert wants to make
Weeks before all this dust rose, Ron Gilbert had words before the first review of Back to Monkey Island. “I wanted it to be provocative, shocking, and not what everyone expected. Go back to Monkey Island. It won’t have the art style you want or expect, but that’s the art style I want.“It’s ironic that the people who don’t want me to make the game I want to make are some of Monkey Island’s most devoted fans. And that’s what upsets me about all the comments.”
At 3DJuegos, we’re taking advantage of the premiere of its first trailer to share with you a full-length preview of The Return of the Monkey Island.
