CRAFTON, LLC announced the newest card PUBG: BATTLEFIELDS, Deston, during the last call with the developers on June 25th. Designed with dimensions of 8×8 km² and dense urbanization with tall buildings, the new map will be released on July 13th.
Dave Kurd, Creative Director of PUBG Studios, and Michael Gilardi, Head of Development at PUBG Madison, spoke about the game’s new purpose during the Dev Talk over the weekend.
In addition to the map itself, the developers told Dev Talk a little more about the new mechanics and features that will appear in the game. Below are the main topics that were discussed at the event:
New Map: Deston
Various elements of Haven, as well as community feedback, were taken into account when designing the new 8×8 map to make sure the look, feel, and mechanics are noteworthy. PUBG: BATTLEFIELDS.
Deston is the largest, tallest and densest map the game has ever seen. In a local match, players will experience everything from urban environments with tall vertical buildings to hills, plains and swamps. The map offers a sweet spot between addictive gameplay and immersive realistic battlefields. Below are more details about Deston biomes.
- swamp: In the northern part of the map, the first swamp PUBG: BATTLEFIELDS. This is a unique environment full of new experiences. The dense and lush mangrove forest requires many encounters at close range.
- Central Plains: Central Plains offers players the traditional experience they know and love. Similar to Erangel and Taego, this area strikes a balance between coverage, scenery, and points of interest (POIs) to explore. This region is home to the POI Lodge, the largest building ever built in the game. Players can enter the lodge and see some hunters become hunters.
- Concert District: Party goers are guaranteed fun in the Concert Quarter as they will find a giant chicken balloon floating in the air. The paintball arena also offers opportunities for short, medium and long distance matches. Players will want to check out this POI as it may appear as part of Team Deathmatch in the future.
- Western Highlands: In this area, players will be able to test their sniper and shooting skills. With a small amount of plants and a wide level of visibility, unsuspecting players can be seen through the scope of more attentive players. The winding hills and dry, rocky desert atmosphere of the offshore island provide more cover and unexpected encounters.
New movement mechanics and features
- Climbing: Completely new movement mechanics PUBG: BATTLEFIELDS to transport players around Deston when the map officially launches. The Ascender is a motorized pulley and players can expect to be attached to the wall of certain buildings, including dedicated cell towers. This new mechanic will allow players to move from the ground to the top of a building and back again. In addition, players do not need to carry any special items with them to use Initiates, and their speed can be adjusted using the sprint key.
- Emergency parachutes: It is useless to build the tallest buildings ever built in PUBG: BATTLEFIELDS if you can’t jump off them – that’s why the always-active emergency parachute was created so that players can jump from Deston’s height without fear. The emergency parachute is a standard item in the inventory and is always active. The parachute will be redistributed to players who can secure it by dropping it on the map and picking it up from the ground, which will result in a match being ended early. In addition, dedicated Ascendant cell towers allow players to combine an Ascendant with an emergency parachute and create a slingshot-like movement to move around the map.
- Gas pump stations: Deston will introduce functioning gas stations so that players can fill up vehicles as they travel around the map. However, be aware that these gas stations can experience the full effect of Michael Bay’s explosion if they are hit.
New Tactical Equipment: Blue Chip Detector
The Blue Chip Detector is coming as the newest tactical gear option with the launch of Deston! The Blue Chip Detector is a larger version of the spotter’s scope that will help locate opposing players within a certain radius. However, due to detection latency, the Blue Chip Detector does not display the real-time location of other players and does not show the exact vertical position when used in urban areas. Basic gameplay PUBG: BATTLEFIELDS remains a top priority, and feedback on new tactical gear will be carefully monitored once players get their hands on it.
new weapons
As with all maps, Deston has two new unique weapons for players to try out during matches. The Origin 12 is a shotgun with superior accuracy and range, making it more effective in all areas of the map. The MP9 is a powerful new submachine gun that specializes in close combat.
