After much rumour, Sega has finally revealed the Sonic Frontiers Cyberspace levels in Nintendo Direct, confirming that these missions are remixes of classic Sonic the Hedgehog levels like the original Green Hill Zone.

Despite the series’ uneven history, Sonic games have some of the best platforming ever, so it was always intriguing when Sonic Frontiers was confirmed to be an open-world game, essentially a weird take on Elden Ring. , in reality. .

For those unsure, the cyberspace levels should be more in line with expectations, as they are remixes of classic Sonic Generations-style levels, much like the “warp zone” levels from Super Mario Sunshine. The trailer confirms that we do see Green Hill and Speed Highway (Sonic Adventure) or Empire City (Sonic Unleashed). Entrances to cyberspace levels can be found all over the world map, according to Sega, though you’ll need to complete challenges to get “portal mechanics” to open them. Completing the cyberspace level will give you the key to the vault, which is probably needed to progress through the game.

You can see the trailer below.

There is no exact release date for Sonic Frontiers yet, though it is most likely November 2022.

So far, the Sonic Origins Classic Collection has been released, though it has encountered quite a few issues along the way.
