Activision Blizzard has decided to delay launch diablo immortal inside Chinese A few days before the scheduled debut on June 23. An official post states that the delay was decided to make a number of optimizations to the game and increase the number of supported devices, but there could be other reasons as well.
Diablo Immortal’s official page for the Chinese market reads, “We are sorry to inform you that the scheduled launch of Diablo: Immortal on June 23 will be delayed.”
“The development team is working on a number of game optimizations: increased device support for a wider range of models, maximum graphics quality across multiple models, diverse experiences, network and performance optimizations, and more. The official launch version brings you better game content.”
For now, Blizzard has not announced a new launch date for Diablo Immortal in China, but has promised a number of compensation bonuses for the delay.
As VGC points out, if Blizzard’s claims are true, it’s unclear why the game was practically delayed at the last moment and not sooner. As Niko Partner analyst Daniel Ahmad points out, the decision came after the event.official Weibo account Diablo Immortal (Chinese social platform) has been banned for “violation of relevant laws and regulations” so the two can be linked.
Diablo Immortal was not released in the Netherlands and Belgium due to the use of a lootbox system, but there are no similar restrictions in China, so it’s unclear why the game’s Weibo account was banned.
