In the end, upgrading your gaming PC to an AMD Ryzen 7000 Zen 4 processor might not be that expensive, as new reports claim that Team Red may be considering releasing DDR4 compatible chips. Leaks suggest that these processors are not destined for the upcoming AM5 platform, but instead will find a place on AM4 motherboards.
This information is the latest AMD Ryzen 7000 news from a trusted source. graymon55, which states that the company “plans to release AM4 DDR4-compatible Zen 4 products.” Processors of this nature are not entirely unexpected, as during a Computex presentation earlier this year, the company called the AM4 “a great platform that will last for years to come.”
AMD plans to release AM4 DDR4 compatible ZEN4 products, according to processor retailer AMD, but this is just a plan and we don’t know if it will be available.

That said, Greymon55 is quick to point out, however, that DDR4-compatible Zen 4 processors are “only one model” at this time, and the source is “not sure if [they’ll] be available” for purchase. For now, we should all take this news with a grain of salt and cross our fingers for those hoping to stay on the AM4 platform longer and save themselves the expensive upgrade to DDR5 gaming memory.
Zen 4 chips are sure to be some of AMD’s best gaming CPUs this year, competition from Intel Raptor Lake could shatter Team Red’s plans to dominate the CPU market.
