Fallout-style isometric RPG – a new game from the developers of Dusk

It may seem like the days of isometric Fallout RPGs are behind us. As Bethesda expands its open worlds further and further, the classic era of text scrolling, sprite animation, and stunning 2D graphics fades away as an exiled Vault Dweller wandering the wilderness. But all is not lost: New Blood Interactive, developer of the incredible first-person shooter Dusk, has unveiled a new isometric cyberpunk game created in collaboration with the creators of two beloved Fallout fan projects.

Although it doesn’t have a name yet, New Blood’s latest project definitely has pedigree. Adam Lacko is the creator of Project Van Buren, a recreation of an isometric RPG once in development at Black Isle Studios and originally slated to release as Fallout 3. He was joined by Alexander Berezin, who created the art for Fallout. : Sound. , a mod based on the second game that adds a whole new story with 100 unique quests.

Rounding out the team is Mark Morgan, and if you don’t know his name, you certainly know his job. He is the composer of the soundtracks for the original Fallout and its sequel, including the haunting and iconic song “Metallic Monks”. He might recognize this drum beat – it plays every time he levels up in Fallout 4.

New Blood has only released one image so far, showing a man in a leather jacket, presumably our protagonist, standing at the crossroads of a retro-futuristic urban sprawl.

The art style is uncannily similar to Fallout, with huge vending machines, jet cars, and civilians walking around in overalls, a kind of over-the-top 1950s where there was never any miniaturization. It marks another addition to an already impressive lineup of New Blood development projects, including a new game in the Faith horror series and a Dusk-themed HD remake of Doom and Quake.

So if you’re into us, whether you’re into old school and isometric RPGs, or maybe completely redone, like the Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall remake that just hit GOG, it’s definitely worth checking out. glance.
