To create a recovery compass, you will need the following:
- Compass
- 9 echo shards
Place the compass in the center of the crafting grid, surrounding it with nine echo shards. Echo Shards are a new resource added in update 1.19 and can only be found in the new “Old Cities” areas that spawn in the Deep Dark biome.
These shards are currently only used to craft Salvage Compasses, so you won’t have conflicting priorities if they’re hard to find. You can double down on the recovery compass if you think you might end up dying a lot.
