In The Quarry, your decisions tend to snowball, given the interactive nature of the story. This means that if you make the right decisions and keep the characters in your hands, you will prevent other characters from dying due to circumstances where you lose control. Dylan and Laura are two characters whose security throughout the game means that Max will also survive until the end of the game.
