Positivo Tecnologia President Elio Brook Rothenberg represented Brazil at the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year. This initiative, promoted by consulting and audit firm EY, aims to identify, encourage and recognize business leaders who are transforming markets and making a positive impact on society.
This year the exhibition was held from 7 to 9 June in the city of Monte Carlo, Principality of Monaco. It was attended, in addition to the President of Positivo Tecnologia, by leaders from more than 40 countries who became winners of the national competition “Entrepreneur of the Year”.
Elio Brook Rothenberg took part in the world stage by winning the Brazilian version of the program in February, when he was named EY Brazil “Entrepreneur of the Year 2022”. The jury, formed by other leaders of local and multinational companies, noted the professional path and experience of managing a hardware technology company that contributed to the computerization of the middle class in our country.
During the Global Entrepreneur of the Year, the stories and projects of national edition winners were featured to highlight relevance, innovation and challenges overcome, and the ability to inspire new businesses.
In addition to the chairmanship of Positivo Tecnologia, Elio is one of the founders of the company. At the age of 27, while still director of a computer science course, he had the idea to develop computers for schools. It was then that in partnership with representatives of the Positivo Group, the most daring entrepreneurial project was born: Positivo Tecnologia. Established in 1989 with a capacity of 50 pieces per month, the company has achieved leadership in the PC market with prices up to Rs 2500.00.
Since then, the factories in Curitiba (PR), Ilheus (BA) and Manaus (AM) have produced more than 40 million devices. For example, during the most critical moments of the Covid-19 pandemic, Positivo Tecnologia delivered oxygen tanks to hospitals, donated computers to charities and the United Vaccine Movement, and supported the production of ventilators.
