One of the most typical features of Soulslike is that it forces players to create additional challenges that were not intended for FromSoftware’s design. There are many examples, but one of the most interesting is to try. Defeat bosses in one go. YouTube channel InfernoPlus has been dedicated to these challenges for some time now, and now it’s your turn. Hand Ring. You can see the full video of his success above. Obviously there are spoilers in the video and this story, so read and watch at your own risk.
InfernoPlus was defeated 163 out of 165 Elden Ring bosses with one shot. It is therefore a partial attempt, but an incredible undertaking nonetheless. In fact, he could not defeat the Fire Giant and Rykard. In the first case, the fault lies with the Elden Ring itself, which interrupts any attack after taking a certain amount of health from the enemy, to start a cutscene and transform the boss into its second version. If there were no interruptions, a single attack would have sufficed.
In the case of rykardInstead, the first stage can be eliminated without a hitch, while the second stage’s HP is so high that it’s nearly impossible to do. We say almost because, according to InfernoPlus, with great luck it would have been possible to eliminate it with a single use of Comet of Azur, but failed to do so. Rykard is a special Elden Ring boss fight (similar to those in Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls III) as he faces a special weapon that attacks with waves of energy/wind and deals multiple damage. regular weapon.
But let’s take a step back and see how InfernoPlus did in principle to defeat Elden Ring bosses. First of all, it has cheated. Using bugs, glitches, and rust items from other players, he loaded himself with weapons and gadgets. Additionally, he acquired a practically infinite amount of runes so he could max out. The challenge is not to complete the game normally, but to try to take it to its limit, so these methods fit perfectly into the spirit of the challenge.
Talking about mistakes and mistakes, an example is a boss from the snowy zone that cannot be defeated by a single player with a normal melee attack. However, summoning an ally almost doubles the life of the boss, so the solution may not be considered valid. In fact, InfernoPlus discovered that life doubles when the boss fight begins. If it is possible to enter the fighting area in an “alternative” way (eg using glitches and entering from above, if the area does not have a roof), then the boss fight will not start and life will remain normal. In two players, by synchronizing the blow, you can eliminate the boss in a single attack.
Then there is the situation malaniaWho is the first boss to cheat in Elden Ring history? When the second phase starts, Malenia releases it and launches a downward attack. Even if he knocks it into the air and inflicts more damage than its maximum life, the warrior does not die and remains with one hit point. He cannot be killed until he completes his attack. To fix this, InfernoPlus wore a set of several pieces that deal damage when tapped on an enemy and then roll onto Malenia to eliminate it as soon as she completes the attack from above.
InfernoPlus video Interesting not just for the challenge itself, but for finding and explaining various bugs, glitches, and combinations of effects that a common Elden Ring player may not be familiar with.
If you’re looking for challenges, here’s also Elden Ring Survival Mode, which adds hunger, thirst, disease, and more.
