CD PROJEKT RED, creator Cyberpunk 2077collaborates with Netflix and Studio Trigger to present promotional materials for the anime Cyberpunk: Mercenaries, including a new visual identity, a trailer and a documentary video of the production. The show will premiere in September this year!
Revealed during geek week from Netflix, an event dedicated to cultural shows, movies and games available and planned for the streaming platform, the new images mark the first time Cyberpunk: Mercenaries was shown in motion – in the form of a teaser trailer, as well as the first part of a series of behind-the-scenes videos.
In addition to show development commentary from the CD PROJEKT RED team involved in the project, the documentary also features photos and concept art, as well as an exclusive clip and anime footage. Future behind-the-scenes videos will cover other aspects of the show with additional information from Studio Trigger members.
New visual identity Cyberpunk: Mercenaries, designed by the show’s lead character designer Yo Yoshinari and released as part of Geeked Week, features the show’s main characters, David and Lucy. The couple also appear in the teaser trailer and behind-the-scenes video along with the show’s other main and supporting characters.
Cyberpunk: Mercenaries tells a ten-episode standalone story about an outcast trying to survive in a futuristic city obsessed with technology and body modification. With something to lose, he decides to stay alive by becoming an edge runner – a criminal mercenary, also known as cyberpunk.
The show was created by renowned game development studio CD PROJEKT RED with creative talents Cyberpunk 2077 as well as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt participates in the project. The famous Japanese animation company Studio Trigger is responsible for making the world Cyberpunk: Mercenaries, with series director Hiroyuki Imaishi (Gurren Lagann, Kill la Kill, Promar). Yo Yoshinari (Witch Academy, BNA: Brand New Animal) is Lead Character Designer and Executive Director of Animation. Masahiko Otsuka (English)Star Wars: Visions “The Ancient One”) and Yoshiki Usa (series GRIDMAN UNIVERSE) are responsible for the script based on the story provided by CD PROJEKT RED. Original soundtrack composed by Akira Yamaoka (TV series silent Hill).
