New Genshin Impact Characters in Update 2.8 and Later

Do you want to know more about the new Genshin Impact characters? Since its release in 2020, the addictive anime game has undergone numerous regular updates, expanding the game’s content and adding several new characters in the form of banners for a limited time.

New Genshin Impact Characters – according to Hoyoverse’s Genshin Impact roadmap – it should be released with every major update. Based on past experience, with every new patch there will be at least one Genshin Impact banner with a new five-star character and possibly new four-star characters. However, some new Genshin Impact characters have been added outside of this timeline, such as Klee from Genshin Impact, so we may also see new characters appear unexpectedly.

Yelan and Kouki Shinobu are the most recent new characters to appear in the Genshin Impact 2.7 update, and we know that Heizo will also appear, possibly in the next patch. There are also some leaks and information about new faces that may appear in future Genshin Impact updates. However, until officially announced, these characters are not final and are subject to change.

New and upcoming Genshin Impact characters:

GENSHIN IMPACT 2.7 NEW CHARACTERS

Impulse

In Update 2.7, two new characters will appear, and the first is Elan. She is a five star Hydro Bow user, and Yelan Banner dropped along with the new patch on May 30th. It will last until June 20, when the second phase of patch 2.7 will begin.

shinobu cookie

The second new character introduced in 2.7 is Kouki Shinobu, an Electro Sword user who has support and healing abilities. Being a four-star character, Kuki will not have his own banner, but will debut in the Arataka Itto Banner rerun, which will appear in the second phase of 2.7. This banner will run until Genshin Impact 2.8’s scheduled release date on July 13.

New Genshin Impact Characters: 2.8 and Later

Heizou

Heizo, an Inazuman detective, is mentioned in lines by various characters. In May, Heizou was officially announced via the Genshin Impact Twitter account:

Aside from the fact that Heizo appears to be an Anemo character (judging from the pendant you can see), no other information or background is provided for the detective. chief genshin lumi claims that Heizo will be the first male Catalyst character, though his art shows some sort of melee weapon sheathed on his hip.

Former Genshin Leader Ubacha speculated that Heizou could be a 4-star character released as part of the 2.6 update. However, later (and, in his own words, “doubtful”) tweeter suggests that Heizou’s release will be in the 2.8 update cycle.

Ubatcha also states that Haizou will be shorter than Xiao, Gorou, and Aether. We’ll keep you posted on any further information we receive regarding Heizou Banner’s release date, though his abilities have already leaked online via Honey Hunter, so we’ve put together some ideas for a good version of Heizou.

Nile

The previous set of Genshin Impact leaks hinted at character data attributed to someone named “Nelow.” Known Genshin Project insider Celestia indicates that she has a “girlish” body type. This is what they said:

There are data traces about “Nelow” as a female character with a body type (like Keqing). Note that the body type can be a placeholder.

As Celestia points out, this is all subject to change and may even be a placeholder, so we need to put a pin on this until more official information is released.

dainsleif

Dainsleif, The Bough Keeper was officially announced by Hoyoverse during the Tokyo Game Show, but no release date was given. His voice actor has been announced, but we have no indication of when he might arrive.

Dainsleif hails from Khenri’a, an underworld that is not part of Teyvat, so perhaps one day in the future we will meet Dainsleif when exploring his homeland.

yaoyao

Yaoyao is a charming NPC who is mentioned in several character lines. She was Xiangling’s junior when they both studied under the same leader, but now she has become an assistant in Genshin Impact Ganyu.

She appears in the official art above, which may also give us some clues as to when she might join us in-game. The art shows Yaoyao with Qiqi at the Mid-Autumn Festival, so her release may coincide with a festival. She was discovered as a four star Dendro Catalyst user, which is intriguing as we don’t have any Dendro users available yet.

Baizhu

Baizhu is an NPC in Genshin Impact and the owner of the Bubu Pharmacy in Liyue. He has a vision for Dendro that has led fans to believe that he could one day be a playable character, though we’ll have to wait for Dendro’s full implementation in the elemental reaction chart.

Movie

Cino was shown in a video preview of the Teyvat Chapter story: he is a halberd wielder from Sumeru, one of the future Genshin Impact regions that we will be visiting in future updates.

Collie

Collei is a character from Sumeru in the official Genshin Impact manga. Seer Barnabus gave him the remains of the Archons, but Cino and Ember helped remove them. A Twitter user found links to the Collei Elemental Burst ability in Beta 2.5. heavy breathing.

April 2022 was Uncle Y’s new leak he claimed that Collay’s abilities had been completed and were being tested. This leak is considered “reliable” but has so far been viewed with skepticism. Other rumors surrounding Colley suggest that she may be a user of the Dendro Bow.

lini and lynette

Lini and Lynette appeared in the same script preview video, supposedly a pair of twins dressed as wizards, hailing from Fontaine, a French-inspired region. It is speculated that they can be recruited in pairs and traded for each other in battle, though that might be nothing more than a good idea.

yang-san

Yangsan also appeared in the Teyvat Chapter story video in the Natlan section. We think she’s using an arsonist, but we’ll have to wait until we visit Natlan to find out more about her.

skirmish

Scaramouche – No. 6 of the eleven heralds of Fatui; poses as an “Inazuma Wanderer” who attempts to betray and kill the Traveler during the “Unreconciled Stars: Star of Destiny” event. Players believe that he will eventually become a playable character and think that he could be an Electro Catalyst user.

medical

Il Dottore is another of the eleven precursors. His name means “Doctor”, but according to his appearance in the official manga, he is more interested in using humans for research and experimentation.

ladybug

Pulcinella is the fifth of the Eleven Precursors of Fatui; All that is known of them is that they recruited Tartaglia de Fatui after he reappeared from the Abyss.

These are all the new Genshin Impact characters that we think have a reasonable chance of appearing in the game; we will add new candidates as we discover them.
