Meta’s Oculus Quest 2 has surpassed Microsoft’s all-time Xbox Series X and S sales and is catching up with the PS5. This milestone makes Meta’s best VR headset the most successful VR product to date, with headset sales increasing 97% since 2021.

VR headsets still have a long way to go before they catch up with the Nintendo Switch, but Meta has already switched 3.4 million more headsets than the Xbox Series X and S consoles. The PS5 is still in second place with 17.2 million. in sales, but there’s a chance the social media giant could catch up with Sony.
It’s worth noting that ongoing component shortages and availability issues have affected sales since launch, so the Xbox Series and PS5 consoles could see a surge if supplies increase. However, the Oculus Quest 2 continues to enjoy phenomenal commercial success, a testament to the rise of virtual reality.

While the Quest 2 is the shining star of the Meta, the Oculus Quest 3 and Project Cambria are likely to turn heads as soon as they arrive. The latter is supposed to be more of a metaverse tool than a pair of gaming glasses, but it can still deliver a top-tier gaming experience for VR enthusiasts.
