One of the best FPS games of all time could finally get an official PC release, and the public reveal of GoldenEye 007’s updated achievements on the Xbox Storefront now suggests that the best James Bond game could even be on display at Summer Game. Fest.
In 2021, a long-rumored Nintendo 64 remaster of the classic game GoldenEye 007 was leaked online, but due to rights issues, fans assumed it would never be released. Developer Rare has spun off from publisher Nintendo and is now owned by Microsoft, with neither name holding a James Bond (to kill) game license. However, in January 2022, many official trailers for the re-release of GoldenEye 007 were noticed by fans and industry insiders speculated that the release was imminent.
That apparently hasn’t happened yet, but suddenly the same achievements are publicly available on the Xbox Store. Also, they’ve received a slew of recent patches since they were leaked back in January, and people seem to be unlocking them somehow, including at least one person who works at Rare, probably someone from the dev teams.
The fact that all of this is happening just as we prepare for Summer Game Fest and Xbox Showcase on June 12 can hardly be a coincidence. In other words, maybe, just maybe, James Bond will return.

It won’t be the only James Bond game, though, as Hitman developer IO Interactive recently announced that “Project 007” is in development. To see the full program of Summer Game Fest, you can click on this link.
