With Warhammer 40K: Darktide just a few months away, Fatshark has opened pre-orders for two versions of the upcoming co-op game set in the hive city of Tertium. To mark the occasion, a new trailer for Darktide has been released, debuting during the Warhammer Skulls stream on June 1.
A new trailer titled “Rejects Will Rise” provides new details on Darktide’s backstory and setting. The clip begins with the train hurtling down the viaduct into the underground city, all of its carriages spewing poisonous green smoke. The smoke poisons anyone who breathes it, turning them into zombified minions of Chaos and threatening to consume the entire city.
That’s where our noble group of heroes comes in, with the exception of Darktide, they aren’t really heroes, as frequent Warhammer writer and Darktide co-creator Dan Abnett explained to us, all Darktide heroes are prisoners who don’t have nothing to lose and they absolutely must learn to trust each other if they are ever going to survive.
Here is the new trailer:
The criminal heroes of Darktide are hired by an Imperial Inquisitor sent to Tertium to eradicate what appears to be a Chaos incursion, and as you progress through the game you’ll venture deeper and darker into caverns in the city’s hideous underbelly to find its origin.
The trailer also takes a look at some of the characters’ abilities and weapons: there are standard Warhammer 40K rifles, chainswords, and laspistols, but one character is clearly some sort of psychic, and he’s preparing a powerful blast of electricity to unleash it. his enemies draw near.
Warhammer 40K: Darktide launches on September 13 and pre-orders are now available.
