While some gamers were disappointed that the multiplayer portion of My Time at Sandrock isn’t set to release this month, developer Panthea confirms that the four-player online game will be added to the Stardew Valley-style city-building game “by part of the end. of this year”.
The 2019 sequel to My Time at Portia, released last week on Steam Early Access and, by Steam player count, has already been a huge success. However, some players may have been caught off guard by the lack of multiplayer, which the developer previously confirmed was still the plan for the sequel.
In a new video, developer Panthea outlines its My Time at Sandrock multiplayer roadmap for 2022 and says it plans to release it as an update later this year. The team plans to run global tests for all players in late August, early September, and October, so the online version of the game will likely be added in November or December 2022, with support for up to four players.
The developer says that the multiplayer game takes place in “a small pre-Sandrock town that works together to build the most powerful merchant guild in all of the Yufaul desert.” There will be quests, and once a player takes a rake, all players can contribute to it. The NPC is smaller, but will still be connected to the single player story, so players will need to play both to get the “full story”.
