The world’s smallest ATX power supply is ideal for turning consoles into gaming PCs.

HDPLEX has introduced the world’s smallest ATX power supply that can help modders turn retro consoles into mini gaming PCs. The 200W power supply features a passive cooling system that eliminates the need for fans, while the power supply assembly is slightly larger than a cell phone.

On the HDPLEX website, the company demonstrates the smallest ATX power supply in the world, demonstrating its remarkable size and features. The lack of need for fans plays a part in reducing the power supply footprint, which is due to the use of gallium nitrate technology. By using GaN cooling and an aluminum alloy chassis, the gaming part of the PC can maintain low temperatures without using fans, ultimately making it smaller.

HDPLEX says that if a nifty 200W ATX power supply isn’t enough, you can sync the two units for double the power. Naturally, this doesn’t match the world’s smallest estate, but it’s still an extremely low-profile solution that dwarfs traditional mini ATX options in power and size.

The world’s smallest power supply is an intriguing concept, but if you’re running a modern RTX setup, the power supply may be unnecessary. Nvidia recommends 550W of system power to run cards like the RTX 3050, and future entry-level RTX 4000 cards could draw even more power.

However, if you’re looking to turn older consoles like the Sega Dreamcast into a gaming PC, the HDPLEX power supply can be a game changer. In fact, its size means it’ll fit right into super-contact cases, meaning we can turn the queen’s gold Nintendo Wii into a sleeping pad. Of course, if you decide to dabble in the art of converting retro computers to PCs, you may want to target only non-working machines.
