Nintendo has a special relationship with its community, and Tyler “Ninja” Blevins proved it this week as he looked back at the 2019 event. At the time, Ninja offered over $500,000 to help with Super Smash Bros. EVO 2019. However, he never heard a response from the company.
What’s interesting about this story is that it’s responding to Ninja’s cryptic 2018 tweet that still hasn’t been justified. In November of the same year, he posted the following on his Twitter page: “Hi fighting/major game community…. I have something for you.
Hey fighting/smashing community…
I have prepared something for you. pic.twitter.com/SVu3UJNDre
— Ninja (@Ninja) November 27, 2018
And almost four years later, during a poker game broadcast featuring Ninja, the streamer revealed why. He spoke about his intention to donate US$500,000 and revealed that the company was not opposed to it, but merely a “ghost” of it.
Currently, Super Smash Bros. is no longer part of the competitive EVO game board.
