Matheus “Budega” Figueira, XSET coach, was suspended from competition for one year for “inappropriate behavior” during the Six Major Charlotte. In a note published this Friday (20) by Ubisoft, it was reported that the Brazilian will be banned from participating in official Rainbow Six competitions until May 13, 2023. XSET, in turn, was fined $5,000 for Budega’s behavior.

Budega’s suspension may be related to the famous post-round barbs in Rainbow Six. It’s not clear how many times the Brazilian did this during the Six Major, but some netizens posted a video on social media of Budega saying a bad word during a game against Team Liquid.

In his profile, the coach tried to justify the use of the word “faggot” to provoke opponent players during the match, which was true for group B.

“Bycha means coward in the northeast, folks. It sucks, I grew up with it and I’m trying my best to change it. But in the heat of the moment, something similar comes out. It is difficult to ban me for 12 months from the work that I do for the word, ”said Budega.

On the Twitter profile of R6BRATUALIZADO, the coach said that this behavior needs to be changed urgently. Budega, in turn, agreed with the comment, but questioned the lengthy sentence: “I was in the heat of the moment, and the context was clearly such that I wanted to speak cowardly. We all know this. Exaggerated punishment.”

At the same time, Budega will not be present in the playoffs of Six Major Charlotte with XSET against Astralis. The final stage of Mundialito de R6 will be streamed on the official Rainbow Six Esports Brasil YouTube and Twitch channels.
