Nintendo patents anti-fraud software

Nintendo may be taking competitive gaming more seriously after filing a patent for its anti-cheating software.

The patent, as reported by Nintendo Life, pertains to Nintendo’s online games on the face of it and is described as “systems and methods for identifying modified application data.” Although nit is conclusively proven, it appears to be anti-fraud software that detects when a user tries to modify the software.

Official statement, “The official patent statement states: ‘The technology described implements certification programs using “code reuse” techniques.” In particular, the technology refers to certification programs for automated generators, among others aspects, to determine if a program has changed.

The patent states that “cheating is incredibly common where the gaming landscape extends to games, especially online multiplayer. In particular, users can modify the software to have the opportunity to gain an advantage over other players in different systems.
