If there’s one passion that unites nearly every World of Warcraft player, it’s the mountains. Blizzard has understood this very well, and with Dragonflight, they’re bringing lots of new floating creatures to the game…sometimes even surprising! We looked at the processed and Alpha data and got the full description of the most popular models (excluding dragonfly mounts).
To note: A few other models have been discovered, but due to their shortcomings at the moment, we have decided not to include them in this article. This will avoid potential disappointments if they are not implemented in-game (although the ones shown here may be removed before the expansion releases).
Drake from Gladiator Season 1
While a small minority of players managed to achieve the prestigious rank of Gladiator in Dragonflight PvP Season 1, this new mount is arguably the most surprising (and desirable) of all featured in this article. Why Not only because his model is special, but also because he is the only one to benefit from the new dragon flight mechanics. And it’s still crazy, one more motivation is enough to go and score in the arena!
fox wyverns
If we’re afraid he hasn’t been tamed yet hunters In Alpha, winged foxes thankfully appear as mounts in Dragonflight. Well, their skeleton is that of our good old wyverns, but the model is surprising and beautiful enough to be appreciated no matter what!
Currently four colors are available:
Loutrrèkes (armoured and unarmoured)
Like Fox Wyverns, Otterkes cannot be tamed hunters In Alpha, it’s a real favorite for fans of this class. Fortunately, they exist as mounts and even come in different models: some wear heavy armor, others simply carry their master’s fishing gear!

Four colors are available:
dragonflies
It is particularly surprising. If their models are largely reminiscent of the Water Wanderer (walking on water is no longer useful since it is now within everyone’s reach), the Dragon Flies are distinguished by their huge wings and… of course the ability to fly! The running animations are the same as Water Striders, but the flying animation is sure to give nightmares to anyone who hates flying creatures.
(It is also an opportunity to remember that “Dragonflight” means “flight of the dragon”. A “dragonfly”, as many pronounce it, this creature is a dragonfly!)
Five colors are available:
- Orange
- black
- blue
- Green
- Yellow
Mammoths and Lava Mammoths
Our old mammoths from Wrath of the Lich King recently got a new racing model, and while some think it’s meant to make them look more modern, these new mounts show us that’s definitely not the case. The old mammoths probably won’t have a model change, but the new ones will be in the Dragon Islands, and we can at least say there’s absolutely no laughing matter whether they’re “normal” or veiled . wash!

There are four colors (some have a different shape on the front horn):
wind eagle
Unsurprisingly, the wind eagle remains a particularly beautiful mount, as it has the same pattern and skeleton as similar recent birds (notably the Flambésiel sapphire). There’s not much to say about it, except that it only comes in one color in Dragon Islands (although the options are already available in Zereth Mortis).
storm
Blizzard preferred to settle accounts with the old ones, especially Horde players. The existence of Thunder Lizard mounts is a clear proof of this, and it’s rather a good thing because they are one of the oldest creatures in the game and are not yet allowed to be worn by players. Unfortunately, his skeleton isn’t special and is the same as Kodo’s, but hey… still awesome!

- Brown
Lava snails and slugs
As with the Wind Eagle, the snail and slug pattern is not exclusive, as it has already appeared in Zereth Mortis. But such mounts were so popular, led by the incredible Sererad, that Blizzard chose to introduce new versions that focus on elemental powers. Great, there are snails, let’s go!

We are not absolutely sure this is the latest model, it is likely that part of the seat is missing or will be lower than it is now. But hey, it’s Alpha, here’s their current model.
Four colors are available:
deer
Moose return to WoW with new skeletons and a look that makes us wonder why Tauren and Highmountain Tauren don’t have Worgen’s belly ability. A few models already exist, but they’re so old (and objectively ugly) that Blizzard seems to have opted for a more streamlined version of these creatures. better!
Three colors are available:
Primitive Uplanders
As mentioned earlier, Blizzard has World of Warcraft’s story to match, and Primal Plainstriders is further proof of that. Although several of these creatures have been in the game for a long time, their models are so pathetic that no one uses them except to look intentionally funny.
But that’s enough: these new Plainstrider models are here to set the record straight and remind all WoW and Final Fantasy players that these creatures aren’t just terrifying, but World of Warcraft has some of the best chocobos in the game. video game history.
