Want to add more Shiny Pokémon to your team? We have protected you. Here’s everything you need to know about Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon GO.
Shiny Pokemon is just a Pokemon with an alternate color scheme. It can make a stark and noticeable difference between the two – with the Cantonese Ponita, for example, whose mane turns blue when it glows – or as Pikachu, which is slightly more orange, it might be barely noticeable.
There is no statistical difference between typical Pokemon and their shiny variants. Shine doesn’t give you any benefits other than bragging.
Therefore, there are no restrictions on how and when you can use Shiny Pokemon in the game. Any glow can be used in battle just like its counterpart.

Shiny Pokémon usually stay in the center due to their rarity. Shiny Pokemon are very hard to find in the wild because not all encounters are lucky.
According to Silph Road, the daily chance of encountering a Shiny Pokémon is less than 1% (0.2%). Each meeting has a 1 in 512 chance of spawning a perfect Pokemon. However, this probability increases under particular game conditions. For example, the probability of encountering a glowing Pokémon during public events can reach 4 to 1: 25%. During raid events, these ratios increase to 1:10 – or 10%.
It’s also worth noting that not all Pokemon in Pokemon GO have their own shiny forms to pull in the game. This adds an extra layer of privilege when encountering them and makes them rarer.
In short: No, no.
There’s no way to tell if a Pokemon is shiny until the end of the meeting – either knocking it down, hatching an egg, encountering it after a raid, or after completing a research mission.
Indeed, a brilliant chance is calculated not at the beginning of spawning, but at the beginning of the meeting. Therefore, there is no guarantee that a shiny Pokémon will be shiny for another player starting the same match.
Luckily, there’s no one-size-fits-all method required to catch a shiny Pokémon. Because there is no real difference between shiny and often colorful members of the species, catching a shiny Pokémon can be done in exactly the same way as catching its typical counterpart.
Some Trainers may choose to use additional items such as Golden Razz Berries and/or Ultra Balls to prevent the Pokemon from escaping. However, this is entirely at the discretion of each instructor and does not affect everyone’s base click speed.
A flash option is added to the PokeDex when shooting and can be viewed at any time.
