Babylon’s Fall saw the number of companion players on PC drop to single player last week.
Things didn’t look so bright for the fall of Babylon. Hack and Slash PlatinumGames received generally negative reviews at launch, with players citing undesirable gameplay and clunky art style among their complaints.
At the height of Babylon’s decline, the number of most-accompanying players on Steam, who didn’t even draw numbers, reached 1166. But in the past week, that number has dropped sharply – to just one player. The issue was originally published by VGC.
It should be noted that the game was also released on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, but it is not so easy to keep track of the number of players at a time. However, chances are that the game’s success on consoles won’t be any better than on PC.
Babylon’s Fall was published by Square Enix, but beyond the company name, the game struggled to gain traction. While the game sparked curiosity in the first place at E3 2018, gamers were mesmerized by what they saw. But at E3 2021, a new gameplay trailer was released and the game was repackaged as a live service.
The changes people saw between trailers weren’t followed with much interest, and they didn’t change after the game was released.
Despite its mixed reception, PlatinumGames announced that it still plans to support game development.
