A lot has changed since League of Legends launched, and one of the most notable metrics is skills. Riot Games couldn’t have used anything to unlock the champion, but some of the game’s design guidelines were outdated in the early years. We are talking about three assists that have been omitted from the title so that the public does not perceive them as too strong.
Unseen Skills That Dominate League of Legends
The spells in question belonged to three different champions, but had very similar effects. We are talking about crosses of Twisted Fate, Zilean and Janna. What everyone has in common is that they act globally and affect all allies. One gave the gold, the other the experience and the speed of the final blow. They were actually quite strong. However, audiences didn’t find them too troublesome, and they were certainly surprised when they were removed from play in late 2013 and early 2015 and never reappeared.
There are several reasons why these passives were lost, but Riot Games’ official rationale was that they gave too much power to the champion and their team for the champion to no longer have influence. Twisted Fate changed to gaining gold for itself, creating a new fan passive that only loves on a teammate, and introducing the proximity requirement to Jana to activate her movement speed. But that logic quickly led to a more ambitious design vision that changed the developer’s job.
The other big problem with this skill and others in League of Legends was that they were invisible. By this we mean that there is no obvious change in performance. It was easy to notice they were doing something and it helped, but had no effect to show it. An example of this is Fiddlesticks, which changes its passive four times after the game. And that shows part of the evolution of Riot Games.
- First Passive (2009) : If they see Fiddlesticks, they reduce the enemy’s magic resistance by 800 in a radius.
- Second Passive (2014) : Damaging or scaring enemies reduces the enemy’s magic resistance for three seconds.
- Third Passive (2016) : Ability to stand still or channel for 1.5 seconds, increases movement speed
- Fourth Passive (2020) : Replaces vision charms with figurines that give vision during stitches and simulate the movement of violin sticks.
Riot Games had the good idea to remove the global passive skills from League of Legends and decided to change their design philosophy to avoid new possibilities, even if they were passing champions. There are a few rare cases where he does not make this decision, But if you look at the history of the developer version, such spells haven’t been in the game since 2013.Over time, the above changes began in Twisted Fate, Zilean, and Janna.
In this regard, it should be noted that this situation is caused by two different factors. On the one hand, passive activation requests or more spectacular effects (like Samira) are more fun. Riot Games, on the other hand, makes it clear that players sometimes don’t understand the specific effects of these tools, which makes the game even more frustrating.
