The main novelty arrives in the next patch after League of Legends. After more than a year of work, Riot Games finally feels ready to introduce a new challenge system to the game. Missions of varying difficulty, while allowing players to progress through ranked mode without playing the game. The goal of the developers is to make the game more interesting, improve customization and secure the system so that we don’t forget our achievements.
But disguised accomplishments/achievements aren’t your thing?
These will certainly be specific actions to be taken to overcome the challenge, separated into different categories. Here is the list (not necessarily complete, some can be added, but will be presented here first):
- Peak : The most competitive category. Their challenge is mainly to get the best opponent in the stripping stage and then destroy the game.
- Teamwork and Strategy : Similar to the previous category, but only focuses on tasks that we can accomplish with the help of our colleagues.
- fancy : This is a somewhat free category, but overall Riot Games wants to reward players with an original and/or risky style of play.
- Jeteran : Although perceived as a challenge, these challenges are more about compiling statistics on our achievements. Challenges in this category will include Mastery Points, Objective Steals, and even Performed Pentacles.
- Collect : Capture as many skins, cosmetics or other items as possible! With this challenge, you will finally find out which of you or your friends has been the most invested in the game.
- Heritage : These will be various achievements that will only be available during events or for a limited time. Halloween, Christmas, Moon Festival, etc. are likely to be associated with
The goal here will be to accumulate points in all categories, and to climb the world ranking of those who have done/seen the most in LoL.. From the descriptions, it’s also kind of ridiculous how challenges can be done in freeze mode (LoL chill episode ending isn’t even Animal Crossing), but their purpose is still a rivalry between players. Who did the most?
Difficulties can also be a reference to the game’s history. So the so-called Immortal Demon King is a tribute to Faker (not immortality building) and involves completing the game without dying. Also note that there is an ARAM version. Some challenges are interesting, but some seem more luck-based, like giving 40% of your team’s loss to ARAM. Not only do you have to be good, but you also have to expect a champion with big losses, a team that isn’t very strong in the neighborhood, and opponents with tips that don’t bother your champion that much. It’s not that simple actually. Of course, the challenges are also for all roles, some are jungle oriented, some are support, etc. Some will require group cohesion and unbridled patience (or winter with 10 friends if we think of the usual games). Finally, some challenges can only be completed by one person, for example a split/top ranked player at the end of the season.
Is this a good thing?
The first question that arises in this chapter concerns the success of the Eternals. For those of you who forget about this feature, keep in mind that Riot Games released the feature to show some stats on your favorite champion for heavy cash a few years ago. There hasn’t been much communication about it, and it’s hard to say if it’s a great success, a good third place or a partial or even total failure. Unlike Eternals, the challenges are probably more general and applicable to most champions capable of doing so (you can still do your healing challenges with Warwick’s Redemption, but it will take longer).
In fact, this new feature can cause several problems. It is possible that some players decide not to focus on the final victory but decide to take on a certain challenge, even if it means leaving the team in the sauce. So again, according to the law of statistics, this person is more likely to be on the enemy team than on your team (certainly, if your goal is ultimate victory, then you only have 4 spots left in your team. Little Joker). , vice versa, always 5 places). In short, this fun tool can quickly turn into a puzzle.
A final word from a collective point of view. Although today’s challenge score does not provide any particular benefit to high scores, there will now be scores that take into account players’ financial investments. (via collection challenges, etc.). It is therefore certain that LoL is not a charity game and beyond the challenges the goal is above all to protect other types of players other than those who like competition, but somewhere the game has retained a certain poetry because he always left aside financial problems. Investment not rated. While challenges don’t really change how players approach the game, they mark the end of the Symbolic Era like a fire that can’t be lit forever. Again, this doesn’t change anything major for the gaming experience, but it’s still a bit of a shame for the beauty of the object.
