It looks like North America will have to fire not one but two controversial coaches to split the League Championship Series (LCS).
Longtime player development manager and coach Zhang “Peter” has been fired by TSM, the North American organization announced on Friday.

“We have received a report of a conflict of interest and unethical practices against League of Legends Coach Peter Zhang,” TSM said in a statement. “After the initial investigation, we immediately arrested him. We are working with the external ombudsman to complete the full investigation.
Within an hour, LCS Commissioner Jackie Felling responded to a Reddit comment on the news to clarify that this does not appear to be a competitive integrity issue.
“It has nothing to do with matches,” Felling told Reddit. “It’s a team issue. I’m not making any statements from Riot, but I don’t want people to think it has anything to do with matches or betting, but it doesn’t.
According to screenshots from TSM Discord, Peter Zhang touched down a bit on Friday for some of the team’s most dedicated fans.
“I’ll write about my situation later, but thank you all for the trip,” Zhang told Discord, according to u/pizzamage, and “please continue to support TSM. I made a mistake and I think it’s pretty big. I was fired immediately.”
“It has nothing to do with the game, messing up the game,” Zhang wrote on Discord, according to u/Timantha. “It’s a very hard lesson to learn. I want to thank TSM for the last three years and I’m really grateful to them.
It appears that Peter Zhang said his personal plan was to return to China to care for the family while awaiting the results of the TSM investigation.
Peter Zhang has been a key player in TSM Legends League operations for the past few years as the organization’s dedicated coach at the academy and LCS levels since November 2018.
The news came at a time when the worst LCS split in TSM history was taking shape, with the team currently holding the record of 2-11, 10th place. The last two LCS Finals he wants to play in will be a first in TSM history.
