The TFT 12.13 patch brought many new changes to the meta, putting some units in a better position than others. Here are the winners and losers of the current patch.
Around 2pm today we have a hotfix that aims to fix a few bugs, including some confusion with Vlad’s mana gain and ammo selection. We’re also reverting Nami’s mana changes from the last patch and making Ryze a bit less powerful.

Winner: Varus
For those saying Varus was already strong in the previous patch, that’s the point. Varus took a minor hit to attack speed in 12.13, but that’s no big deal considering all of Varus’ builds are Rageblade. He came out with a few Astral buffs (a generic, unbroken, immediately removed AP buff) and Varus remained in a very strong spot in the meta.
Loser: Assassins
It’s hard to sympathize with units that can break up a game so easily due to their ability to destroy baseline carriers. The last round of nerfs for the assassins slowed them down enough and they didn’t destroy everyone like they did before. 2 Assassins don’t provide much of a benefit anymore, so you’ll either have to make up for that trait by probably hitting Olaf and Diana, or give them up for another synergy boost.
Winner: Dragons
The dragons still have a sweet spot near Methane Peak, despite Sifen and Shi O Yu’s nerfs. Both dragons continue to find success on the Whisper and Jade plateaus on elos. Meanwhile, Ao Shin and Shyvanna are much more playable in this patch, improving Dragon’s Hoard.
Loser: people who want Xayah Nerfs
Yes, I know I cheated. Every patch, Xayah is slightly Pissed, while all other powerful units are totally Pissed. She had the exact same nerf as Varus, but just like Varus barely felt since he always used a Fury Sword, Xayah still uses a Fury Sword and receives attack speed buffs from his Fury trait. This loss is a slight gain for Assassins, as they will still be used while in this meta.
