Riot Games made an unexpected announcement at Summer Game Fest during the Xbox showcase. While fans were screaming for some kind of Fable upgrade, fans were instead given a surprise in the form of a partnership with Riot Games.

Fans will be able to play League of Legends, League of Legends: Wild Rift, Legends of Runterra, TFT and Valorant as follows. But games aren’t on console until you lose your mind like me. Anyway, so far. It is certainly a step in the right direction. But the games are available on PC Game Pass and mobile for TFT, Wild Rift, and Runterra.

You might be asked why you would play and download a game on Game Pass, when Riot Games is already free. The answer is free content. Players will have access to all League of Legends champions or all Valorant agents. It’s very encouraging, especially for new players who don’t have a lot of unlocks.

This came as a surprise for the Xbox showcase, as Blizzard seems to have received the biggest news of the day regarding the Overwatch 2 free-to-play trailer and early access date. And with the news from Riot Games, Xbox really needs to develop custom news to compete with its rivals.
