Here is an overview of the official LCS Academy and Proving Grounds joint stream guidelines for 2022:
The Academy Summer Split will run from June 8 to July 29 and its format will remain the same as the Spring Split: Double Round with the top two games.
The program was consolidated in seven weeks (less than eight in the spring) with breaks between weeks 4 and 5.
The four weeks of the academy will have matches scheduled from Wednesday to Friday, while the remaining three weeks will be Wednesday and Thursday only. All match streams begin at 4 p.m. ET.
The 10 Academy teams will automatically advance to the summer training ground, where the final four teams will be placed in Play In matches against the final four amateur semis.
As in the spring, the Proving Grounds Circuit Events will be held near the Academy Summer Split from May 23 to August 2.
In the main stage, starting May 30, teams will be split into four GSL groups and the top two teams from each group will be moved to a qualifying group. All teams participating in circuit events will earn Proving Grounds circuit points. At the end of the two circular events, the 10 teams with the most circular points will be placed in the zone of interest, as well as the 10 teams of the academy.
All Proving Grounds Circuit events will take place on Mondays and Tuesdays, with broadcasts beginning daily at 6 p.m. ET.
Proving Grounds Summer will run from August 3-31. The main event of the Summer Academy and Amateur Competition, Proving Grounds Summer is a 20-team double-elimination pool that features the 10 academy teams with the top 10 amateur scoring points. Evidence of circuit measurements.
The core of the last four academies will face the amateur seed to enter the main group of four point eliminations of the first three games.
The final four teams will play the remaining matches on LAN at the LCS studio, where the Proving Grounds Summer Champion will be crowned.
While the format for the double-elimination-style tournament hasn’t changed, Riot said it’s listening to the public’s response to October and changing it to “better reflect the comparative strength of academy teams versus fans.” .
