LoL: Does this skin deserve to be the ultimate skin?

Sona DJ was one of the first final appearances in the game’s history alongside Ezreal Pulsefire. At the time, it was the only skin in the game that allowed changing the music in the game. Players were very surprised that this music change applied to all their allies, not just light-skinned people. It’s just that over the years DJ Sona has aged like a lot of old volumes. This shouldn’t necessarily remove the final stat from the skin, but the changes made by Riot Games change that.

Deadweight losses over the years

Since the release of the skin, League of Legends has seen many updates. Only in the case of DJ Sona, on the contrary, they were not used to heal the skin. The music Sona performed in this special costume was upgradable when it was released. When Sona first used these enchantments, there was a base trace and various patterns were added to it. That is, after the first use, A, Z and E were added. Today’s music is always evolving, but three new layers appear simultaneously when A or E is first used. This change is deliberate as Riot Games has proven that this is not a bug.

The music changed when Sona first used R levels 6, 11 and 16. So there was a total of 4 different music, each with 4 specific variations (once the different layers were added to the main enchantments). It was only after the evolution of the game that some were removed and today DJ Sona has less different music (Not to mention missing variants, as all layers are added at once).

League of Legends

The last negative point concerns the overall design of the skin compared to other Sona skins. DJ Sona uses the basic sounds of Sona, so his spells are no different from his usual version. For comparison, Senna True Damage has custom W and E animations and sounds. Similarly, DJ Sona’s R is the same spell as classic Sona, Sona Pentakill has red shadows and flame effects, Sona Nocturne has a bluish tint, and Sona PsyOps has unique VFX effects. Finally, when DJ Sona has accumulated 120 passive stacks, a disco ball appears, the color of which changes depending on the version selected. If it’s noticeable, it’s still pretty bad for the final volume today.

Possible solutions

Only two solutions are visible today. First, it will reduce the price and rarity of the skin. It will be a first in the history of Riot Games, but more in line with the usual standards of the game. Second, there will be an improvement in the skin. This solution seems to be the best, but it will depend on Riot Games’ calculations. Sona DJ will definitely pay attention if they think that in terms of future profit or brand image, it brings them more to improve their facial skin. On the other hand, if the predictions suggest that it will be a waste of time and money for Riot, this skin is likely to be forgotten like dust under the carpet.
