Warcraft III, DotA 2 and League of Legends have always been compared to the heirs of old defense game mods. If the name of Riot Games still remains a sport in general today, even considering other genres of games, the French public will underestimate the impact of DotA 2 and it will not be as marginal as France in the rest of the world. The two games are very often compared in terms of mechanics, artistic aspects, or cash prizes for their major events. The question posed today may not be simple: Which game has the strongest champions?
clear winner
Before answering this question, let’s clarify the definition of power a bit: This article only covers the power of possibilities in the game. To compare the power of champions in the sciences of both worlds is to compare a rogue star dragon (Aurelion Sol) with an all-thing creature (Io) and a creature monopolized by serious scientists trying to figure it out in this type of discussion . Which is stronger between Krypton and Sayyan (the answer is, of course, Golden Experience’s lament). Not here, just something measurable.
Unfortunately, the suspension will not last long. DotA 2 far exceeds LoL in every possible area in terms of character strength. With the right items and the right tricks, Morgana can immobilize an enemy champion for 11 consecutive seconds. For the person who experiences this in Summoner’s Rift, it’s a real punishment, a game ban. But for DotA 2 players, it’s Tuesday. One of the spells in DotA 2, the single Bath spell lasts 11 seconds with the correct skill. With the proper equipment, he can restrict an opponent’s movement for almost a minute. And this can also be seen by comparing the damage. League of Legends players can pursue Darius the Ultimatum, whose spell, with the right setup, can deal massive damage to almost a third of the character’s average health in the first place. However, for this Darius must hit the opponent 5 times in a very short time. In DotA 2, another wizard, the lion, has a deliberate (hence theoretically unmissable) final enchantment that directly removes (on average) 50% of a character’s life as soon as the enchantment unlocks. And unlike Darius, who needs close range combat. In all areas, DotA 2 has far more dangerous abilities than League of Legends.
And then ?
For a LoL player, the examples in the previous paragraph may seem scary, but anyone who plays DotA knows that practice is very different from theory. Most League of Legends items have a passive use. Valve’s roles in the title are very different, with many features to activate as well as character abilities. It is possible to fully protect yourself from the influence of one or more opposing skills, both with items and with the skills of an ally (or even your character). Of course, since spell resistance is possible (which is much rarer in League of Legends), their effects must be better than in LoL to reward successful actions.
