League of Legends works like a wheel. Riot Games is constantly updating the game so that no champion spends too long dominating others or has been in bad shape for too many patches. The champions who are leading today will fight in the future and eventually come back with upgrades. The fact is that the model is interesting and allows all the characters to have their great moments for several seasons. However, there are a few exceptions to this system that never reach their peak.
A devastating truth about League of Legends balance
The most obvious example is the Raiz case. He is one of the cult champions of League of Legends, which was part of the game even before its official launch. But the first version was also a troubled champion. Riot Games had to adjust its capabilities over the weeks of Alpha and made several reworks in the twelve years since the game launched. It’s a gigantic job that ultimately did not come to fruition. Currently, Runic Mage is the worst character in the game and has historically racked up negative records.

These statistics are incredible and unique in the history of League of Legends. It is true that some champions accumulate similar records when entering a game, but only in the first hours of the title.. No character was found in a similar situation because Riot Games allows the collection of game data. Even less for several patches in a row. Rice was nerfed when she was already among the worst champions in the game and her condition hasn’t improved in the current 12.9 patch and it looks like there’s nothing planned for the next cycle which is currently on PBE.
The best bet for Ryze players will be to adjust their future balance after the big mid-season changes. It’s quite possible that Riot Games will want to be careful despite the character’s predicament. But don’t expect great miracles either. While minor improvements are possible, a simple major game upgrade can save the champion from being the worst in history.
