Patch Note 12.9: Everything you need to know about the Olaf update

Almost all champion or item changes in League of Legends go through the PBE box. It’s a great way for Riot Games to see if these changes are good or bad.

This time it’s Olaf’s turn. He is one of those champions who looks like a good champion at first glance, but is far behind the current meta.. That’s why Riot decided to almost entirely replace the Berzerker with a mid-range upgrade – making it much more powerful and encouraging it to increase its profit margin and competitive and SoloQ outlook. Additionally, he has been affected by system changes more this season than other fighters, which puts him in a particularly bad position in the current Elemental system.

As Riot itself wants to explain reddit, The goal of this update is to provide a better experience with the champion (to make it more fun) and to remove pro-focused power. This upgrade will help him use class items more efficiently, making him more resilient to future system changes. As for its location, Riot Games wants it to stay in the jungle (which will make this choice more accessible) while significantly increasing its top-notch vitality..

New – My Fury Unlimited: Hitting the champion with a massive attack or E – Wild Strike increases the duration of Ragnarok to 2.5 seconds. Olaf can extend the duration of Ragnarok indefinitely.

What do we think?

We’re not going to hide, on paper this modified set looks incredibly broken. Raising his R is like lowering enemy armor through Ragnaroka forever (without losing resistance) – or at least until there’s no one left to hit. Q – RipperAnd with updated base stats, the Berzerker looks like a beast.

loss of life for him. W – vicious blows – Shield changed while we were there – new property will be refunded Passive – Warrior’s Rage. Since its arrival on the PBE, this redesign has caused a lot of ink to flow, but Riot Games has stuck to the first patch announced.

Riot Games is experimenting, perhaps pushing the chips too (too much) to gradually return to something more balanced. It can be assumed that the champion got angry quickly or ate a small meal over the next few days.

It is true that Bertzerker needs love. He is only selected in 1.8% of games and has a low payout rate of 45.2% across all leaderboards. But the real risk here is that it’s a bit too mundane.
