Added Gyro control to Fortnite for PlayStation and PC players. Here’s what you need to know.
Gyroscopic control is already in Fortnite for those playing on Nintendo Switch or Android devices. Now, thanks to yesterday’s patch, support for gyro control has been added for those playing on PlayStation consoles and computers.
Epic Games said in a blog post about the control: “Made with input expert and Flick Stick developer Julian ‘Jibb’ Smart, we’ve added gyro control to Gyro supported platforms. Fortnite. And also Flick Stick!” Gyro Control is an “advanced” version of Motion Control previously used on Switch and Android devices, and now offers more customization options and less frequent recalibration needs.
The new Grio commands will be supported in Battle Royale, Save the World, and Creative, meaning you’ll be able to test them out whichever mode you choose. So how do you use Giro Control in Fortnite?
To use the gyroscopic controls or to turn them on and off, players must switch to the “Tap & Move” tab. Toggle gyro aiming on or off to toggle the switch on or off.
When enabled, players will be able to control the camera by twisting the controller, which offers a bit more precision than aiming a stick. However, players can use both for more precise adjustments, using stick aim followed by gyro control.
Also, in the “Touch & Move” tab, there are many options to customize how the gyroscope control works for you. For example, players can prevent the gyroscope from being active only when aiming at a target, or turn it off completely while building. Additionally, players can adjust the sensitivity of the controls using the sensitivity sliders.
It is important to note that when the gyro is active, the aim assist is disabled in favor of the aiming gyro. It will probably take some time, but more advanced gyro control will definitely add a new dimension to playing Fortnite.
