Have you noticed the new Close Encounters mode in Fortnite lately? You are probably wondering what it is.
Even a long game like Fortnite likes to shake things up once in a while. New weapons, limited time modes, and updating the map from time to time are just a small way to win back more players. Newcomers to the game may have noticed the new Close Encounters mode in the menu.
This mode is followed by completing a few of your own quests, which further encourages players to give it up. But what is it exactly?

Close Encounters is an LTM where things are designed to move slightly faster than normal. The storm is moving faster and matches will end in about 15 minutes.
One last thing to note: the only weapon is a shotgun.
This mod has appeared several times over the years and has changed frequently. This time players will have the newly added and updated Heavy Shotgun that they play during the LTM.
At the time of writing on February 2, players can only access this mode in squads. The maximum number of players in a match is normally 100, but you cannot try solo at this time. Find close encounters by toggling the selected mode on your homepage. Once installed and ready, click play and try this LTM.
