Epic Games has announced that the Fortnite Icon Series has added two new musical tracks to the mix: Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak – better known as the “Silk Sonic” duo.
Two Grammy-nominated R&B artists make their in-game debuts with their own cosmetic teams and a festive tournament in true Icon Series style. Of course, that’s not all. What would a similar addition be without Silk Sonic’s ability to deliver its parts to Fortnite fans? Also on the way is a new radio station playing the couple’s greatest hits.
Here’s what we know about Silk Sonic’s arrival in Fortnite.
Both duo members will get their own skins during the Icon Series, each with two alternate styles – essentially giving fans six looks in a single event. This “Silk Sonic Set” also includes the Sound Scepter Pickaxe which acts as a Back Bling, Sonic Snare Back Bling, Boom Bap Pickax and Freedom Wheels Emote.
These cosmetics will appear in the Item Shop on Thursday, February 10.
Of course, Epic held a tournament to win the Silk Sonic kit for those super fans who couldn’t wait. The Silk Sonic Duos Cup kicks off on Monday, February 7, when a team of two players will compete to prove they are the best in their region. Each duo will play a maximum of 10 matches in three hours, where the best teams will receive the highest prize. Additionally, each team that scores at least eight points will receive a Silk Sonic Spray.
Finally, fans have new songs to listen to on Fortnite Island. In the car, players can turn on Icon Radio to listen to songs by Silk Sonic Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak and simply enjoy additional announcer commentary by Bootsy Collins.
