As the FIFA 23 pre-season approaches, fans are wondering if the new game will feature cross-progressions.
Cross-progression allows players to continue progressing from a previous title or season to the next generation of the game. In this context, FIFA 22 players will be able to continue in FIFA 23 with the benefits, rewards and experience they gained in the previous title.
Specifically, EA has confirmed on its website that FIFA 23 will feature cross-play. Currently, official FIFA 23 marketing communications make no mention of its cross-progression capabilities. It is therefore unlikely to be available for FIFA 23. Of course, FIFA 23 data can be transferred from one generation platform to another.
It makes sense that there is no diagonal progression in FIFA 23. Besides the obvious fact, neither FIFA 21 nor 22 were crossed. Each iteration of FIFA offers players a chance to start fresh and apply lessons learned from the previous year. After all, who wants to buy a new game if everyone who already buys it is automatically better?
