FIFA 23 Leak Will Reveal Major Location Selector Changes

A new FIFA 23 leak from the well-known Fut Sheriff reveal has revealed that big changes to the location selector will be happening in the next Ultimate Team cycle.

Stance modifiers will change to reflect base and alternate stances, the sheriff said. For example, in the images the Sheriff posted on Twitter with CriminalFIFA, players will have interchangeable stances and alternate stances. Ronaldinho is used as an example to show that he can be used as LM, LW or CAM.

The Sheriff wrote on Twitter: “The game does not have a specific location picker. “All the players have a key position and most of them have a secondary position,” he said. “Only in FIFA 23 will you be able to replace players in these positions. There are no specific position change cards anymore.

This potential change has a huge impact on how FIFA Ultimate Team works in FIFA 23. Think of this leaked change as MLB The Show’s Diamond Dynasty. Players have set up positions like third base and have alternate positions on the field where they can take turns. If they enter the base position, they will act according to the stats shown on the card. If they are in secondary position, they have a small drop in certain stats.

It looks like EA Sports won’t penalize players for using secondary positions. For example, to use Ronaldinho again, he has two maps set to CAM and two maps set to LW. This change is intended to reassure people who are not comfortable with the positional flexibility of the CAM map but do not have statistics on LW elements. EA may impose a stat tax on items that will cause some kind of detachment to be built, but it will show.
