Electronic Arts plans to cut up to 100 employees at its offices in Austin, Texas and Galway, Ireland, Kotaku reported Wednesday.
Relevant personnel are currently supporting direct operations in FIFA 22 as well as other games. Their work has included email, chat, and phone support for players who are having issues with the game. This work will now be outsourced.

Joel Knutson, EA’s vice president of customer experience, emailed staff about the layoff, saying they “will help reduce complexity and increase our efficiency, flexibility and our scalability.
The layoffs were followed by attempts by employees to lobby for higher wages after annual growth failed to beat inflation, about $0.10 more per hour.
EA confirmed Kotaku’s dismissal via email.
“The changes to the customer support feature are not related to any of the game series or our EA SPORTS FC announcement last week,” a Kotaku spokesperson said. “The Customer Support function handles a wide range of questions from gamers regarding our game titles and technology, including the Origin or EA Play subscription service.”
EA will replace these roles with 10 new vacancies for customer support for mobile games for laid-off employees to apply for.
