Speaking to The New York Times, EA President Andrew Wilson said the company’s primary motivation was to improve the player experience without restrictions.

“It was really about how we could do it for more players, more fans, how we could offer them more game modalities,” he said. “How can we bring more partners into the game, how can we go beyond the traditional game.”

Drawing attention to these restrictions, Jackson announced that EA needed to expand the restrictions imposed by FIFA 10 years ago in order to move forward with the future of football games.

“The world of football and the world of entertainment are changing and colliding in our product,” Jackson said. “In the future, our players are asking us to be broader on this offer.”

Jan added. “According to the licensing agreements we made with FIFA 10 years ago, there were some restrictions that didn’t allow us to create that experience for the players.”

In a recent financial report from EA, the company said it was grateful for its partnership with FIFA, making it the most successful launch of the FIFA 22 series. FIFA 23 is the latest collaboration between FIFA and EA Sports and will be released in the fall of 2022.
