FIFA Ultimate Team is one of the most popular game modes today. Fans come everyday to open packages, compete with each other and achieve any level of fame. At Speed Up the Game, we review FUT status every month, evaluating many aspects of the game.
April has been a slow month for FIFA 22 fans, with only two full rallies last month: FUT Captains and the FUT Showdown Series. To say the least, FUT Captains was good, including some great cards and the FUT hero revival with Hero Captains cards in FIFA 22.
FUT Showdown has announced daily Showdown SBCs that bring in new players in addition to major meta players. There were no promotional teams in the Showdown series, but EA’s daily content was good, with a selection of players from each team.
We also had Fantasy FUT Live to watch throughout April, and we updated live items throughout the month. This led to both real-world football and the FUT entertainment perspective, one of which influenced the second segment.
Finally, the Team of the Season, Community and Eredivisie TOTS at the end of April also fell apart on the last weekend of April.
If you look back, there were a lot of likes and dislikes in FIFA 22 Ultimate Team back in April. With everything FUT has to offer, let’s dive into all aspects of the game mode since April and consider the good and bad things EA has brought to Ultimate Team this month.

I’m not going to discuss April too much because Fantasy FUT is basically a March promotion and ends in early April. However, the good thing about the promotion was that it encouraged players to watch real-world football in hopes that Fantasy FUT players would be updated. Any time EA Sports releases real football-related content is a plus, so the promotion has backed up a solid month of FUT content.
The FUT Showdown series followed the end of Fantasy FUT and brought a very good week of content. Highly anticipated daily SBCs where unique players give out items to represent their team. Showdown SBCs are a great bet for gamers, but if your card combination won the match, their upgrades were pretty significant. Anyone who has completed Wout Weghorst knows what I’m talking about.
FUT Captains released some solid cards, especially in SBCs, highlighted by Marco Reus at 93 and Marcelo at 94. While the cards were good, they were somewhat repetitive with most cards being takers. constant custom maps throughout this year and in previous FIFAs. Additionally, many cards quickly depreciated and fell to very affordable prices in the transfer market. This year may be an invaluable and forgotten promo, but he still gave us a special Marcelo card and an excellent Chiellini SBC.
One of the highlights of FUT Captains was the resurgence of FUT Heroes players who had been useless in the last five months of FUT. It was great before Christmas, but after TOTY a lot of players didn’t care about cards anymore. FUT Hero Captains have brought the best out of these cards and given them massive upgrades. Players like Abedi Pele, Joe Cole and Ivan Cordoba are still the best players.
April ended in style, the TOTS promotion is officially launched with Community and Eredivisie. Late April TOTS highlights include Luis Suarez with a 96 range and Ryan Grevenberch with a 95 range, both of which are late game caliber cards. If this is a benchmark for how EA will implement TOTS upgrades, fans should be thrilled.
Is it better to do it in the Netherlands???

Top 5 April Goals
5. Conrad de la Fuente (FUT Showdown Series)
4. Lars Stindle (FUT Captains)
3. Thiago Mendes (FUT Showdown Series)
2. Yarmolenko (FUT Showdown Series)
1. Daniel Parekho (Community TOTS)
Goals were good in April, with solid releases for TOTS or adding solid players to squads, or with simple bundle rewards in the form of SBC streams. Working with Live FUT Friendlies has also been easy this month.
Some of April’s best targets include De la Fuente Silver Stars, a very easy to play Lars Stindle and two FUT Showdown Series cards in Mendes and Yarmolenko.
Icon Exchanges 3 also arrived in April and the current rewards are the best we’ve seen. The objectives remained relatively similar and players were able to earn multiple coins at once.
While the goals weren’t special this month, there was almost nothing to complain about.
April’s Top 5 SBCs
5.Fernandinho
4. grandpa
3. Sergio Chains
2. Giorgio Chiellini
1. Wout Weghorst
EA Sports released several SBCs in April, a week-long FUT Showdown series focusing on daily SBCs. Most of the SBCs were very useful, and many players would be good enough to compete with TOTS players in early summer.
One of the best maps released throughout the year, the Wout Weghorst Showdown SBC is a 6’6″ tank that can still be found in many teams. The +2 update that he received after Burnley won Everton were unexpectedly defeated and that’s it Many Showdown card cases.
Additionally, the FUT Captains promotion has also reduced the SBC of a few solid players, especially defensive-minded players. Pepe and Giorgio Chiellini are both top picks in their league and great CBs even during TOTS. With the Portuguese Serie A and the new players in the league, these players can easily enter the teams and their values have made it difficult for them to end.
The transfer market has been steadily shrinking this month, and most food commodities have been down all month. During brand matches and before the SBC leak, some players had spikes, but overall most cards remained at constant values.
In-forms mostly remained at very high values. Finding a form for less than 15,000 coins at any rating was extremely difficult, as most SBCs had to fill out one or two forms in April. While this might look good for those who might gather a lot of TOTW players over the course of the month, it costs a lot more for SBCs.
The same goes for regular and rare players of rank 75 and 84. There were a lot of specific players in the league and the country, which allowed them to make a lot of profit when opening packs.
Promotional player prices have perhaps been the most difficult aspect of the transfer market this month. April proved how EA Sports mix upgrades and player selection for FIFA promotions. Actors like Iker Muniain, Jonas Hector and Mark Noble were almost eliminated just a day after their debut. Muniain’s FUT Captains card is almost smaller than the cards in its form. A perfect example of how EA Sports should overhaul its Ratings structure and Team of the Week as a whole.
Most FUT Captain and Fantasy FUT cards were worth 300,000 coins back in April, so if you pack them you won’t return as many coins.
While no major gameplay issues or fixes were found in April, game modes were another story. Division Rivals is in very bad shape right now, players are behind 0-0 in Rivals and FUT Champions, and there are few rewards for play. FUT Friendlies scored high for gameplay in April, which is not ideal for players who enjoy a bit of competition.
This has been an ongoing story throughout FIFA 22, with more players complaining about the reward structure in Division Rivals, FUT Champions, and even FUT Draft. The creators said similar things about how FIFA 22 gameplay and rewards are the worst in years and their focus and how it brings the game to the most competitive level.
The man who tweeted this… is an idiot. The rewards and gameplay are horrible right now. This system would be introduced #WAS During the loop, not just randomly #TOTS ?
I had a bad idea, sorry. https://t.co/Q4ppQxCBk8

EA Sports didn’t do much to alleviate gameplay issues in FIFA 22 in April, with numerous bugs created this month. Flaws were discovered almost every week, would that be a big delay over the weekend for goals that weren’t met?
We are investigating an issue that is preventing FUT content from releasing additional updates. Additional updates on this topic will be provided as they become available.
– FIFA Direct Communications (@EAFIFADirect) April 27, 2022
Several times this month, EA has delayed the release of daily content, including late April. On April 27, EA’s official FIFA Direct Twitter account warned players that there was an issue with the timely delivery of content and that the content included installs and SBCs. But the promotional packages came out easily.
EA demonstrated during the month that it was unable to fix these bugs and had no responsibility to fix them quickly. These issues have been around in FIFA 22 for a long time, and April was their poster child.
All in all, April has been a very exciting month for FIFA 22. No matter how good the content released, it’s hard not to remember how bad the game is and how the shortcomings affect their enjoyment of the game. I completely reverted to FIFA 22 at the end of March and found my RTG to be relatively slow while enjoying streaming content. When I make a speech or a promotional card, I am sometimes disappointed to find that they are not worth much more than the form.
EA had the potential to put an end to April’s nasty noise, and before TOTS cards were great, you had to worry that many cards weren’t relevant to all of the high-end cards in the game anyway. may. Especially due to promotions like Fantasy FUT players updating their TOTS caliber cards, we will need a lot of 95 rated cards in TOTS to make these cards relevant.
Hoping that EA Sports will have a great May and that TOTS will bring back the fun as it is now, that joy is low for many fans, including those who have loved FUT since its inception.
