Warzone Dev says no other maps are available due to install size

The player hopes that the map rotation system in Call of Duty: Warzone can be circumvented by installation measures.

One of the most visible criticisms of Call of Duty: Warzone, which always reappears, is the lack of game maps. Warzone’s popular Verdansk map was replaced by Caldera with the release of Warzone Pacific last year. Many are hoping for Verdunski’s return, leading players to wonder why Warzone hasn’t received a map rotation system similar to other free-to-play multiplayer.

But Josh Bridge, Call of Duty’s direct operations manager, seems to have addressed the concern. Speaking to Streamer TeeP (and spotted by PC Gamer), Bridge said the reason Warzone was unable to implement such a feature was because the install size was too large.

When asked if Warzone could act on large maps like the Caldera and Old Verdun maps, Bridges replied, “We want that. We all want it. This is a technical problem. It makes no sense to load and reload measurements.

Call of Duty has traditionally been a solid beast when it comes to storage needs, and Warzone has proven to be no different. Free multiplayer is currently around 80GB on PC and hits 120GB on PS5.

The size of the game has become a bit of a burden on some of the already limited warehouses for many players, and the size is only increasing with each major upgrade.

Warzone is built on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, a game that fits the 6v6 standard perfectly. With the addition of more players, maps, and years of updates, it’s clear that the build is no longer sustainable.

Maybe in the future players will have more freedom to expand Warzone. Call of Duty: Warzone got another big upgrade alongside Vanguard with the second season finale of Reloaded.
