Infinity Ward officially announced its second upcoming multiplayer map for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II on Thursday.
Titled Farm 18, the 6v6 map takes place in a training center hidden in an industrial cement factory.

“The idea was, ‘What if we set up a home shoot situation,'” Jeffrey Smith, multiplayer design director at Infinity Ward, said in the trailer. “If you really want to play this crazy game, you can go to the center and the action will find you. If you want to step back and play differently, it’s still there for you.”
The attached gameplay footage shows some of the rough map layout design screens; here the “fire station” and the chaotic assortment of rooms and nooks seem perfectly placed for those who aren’t afraid to reload their weapons.
Meanwhile, outdoor environments are a more standard look for those who play cool, calm, and collected.
Later in the trailer, Ashley Thundercliff, senior environmental artist at Infinity Ward, explained how difficult it was to complete the vegetation development on the map.
“If we get too busy with the leaves,” Thundercliff said, “we have people hiding in the corners. We’re not selling the overgrowth story if we’re not dense enough. So there is a perfect balance between everything. Every department is trying to find that perfect fit, to make sure we get a nice, realistic space, plus it’s fun for the players.
The introduction of Farm 18 follows Infinity Ward’s recent announcement of the Marina Bay Grand Prix, another 6v6 multiplayer map coming soon to MW2.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released worldwide on October 28.
